[GMW #4506] Our Guidelines For The Future - Universal Messages Proclaimed During All Of Humanity's History Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000

~ Idea 4892 ~
Someone should collect and publish the great, universal messages proclaimed during all of humanity's history.  What an interesting source of revelations and enlightenments that would be! (Can be published on the web, with an index of common themes.)

Perhaps their common denominators would be our guidelines for the future.

Volume II - The Art of Personal Happy Living
Chapter 7 - Of Optimism

One of the greatest statements on optimism is a letter of Ludwig van Beethoven, the Heiligenstadt Testament in which he informs his brother that he will lose his hearing, become deaf. He almost shouts in it: "But I will show the world what I am capable of". And it is from then on that he composed his greatest symphonies.

Gratitude as a discipline involves a conscious choice. I can choose to be grateful even when my emotions and feelings are still steeped in hurt and resentment.

It is amazing how many occasions present themselves in which I can choose gratitude instead of a complaint.
