[GMW #4773] A True World Union

[GMW #4773] A True World Union Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000

~ Idea 4 ~ 14 July 1994

Being a remarkable model of a new world order, much better than the UN, the European Union should help the world and create a Commission or group of eminent thinkers to offer a plan for the transformation of the United Nations into a true World Union.

Being a remarkable model of a democratic world order, much better than the United Nations, the United States should repeat the Philadelphia miracle and offer the world a plan for the transformation of the United Nations into a United States of the World.

It took ten years to create the United States of America. It took 43 years to create the European Union. Given the experience gained from these precedents and the urgency of the global problems confronting the planet, let us set as a goal for that task at the time of our entry into the third millennium.

Always place yourself in the position of your human brother. Or as the indigenous people say: Do not judge your brother before having walked in his moccasins for a few miles.

WORD FOR THE DAY
What is love? Gratitude.
What is hidden in our chests? Laughter.
What else? Compassion.

[GMW #4491] Nurture Beautification Of Towns & City Across The Planet - Arts, Culture, Flowers, Nature

[GMW #4491] Nurture Beautification Of Towns & City Across The Planet - Arts, Culture, Flowers, Nature Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000

~ Idea 4877 ~
A city like Santa Barbara could be a model for the world as it is already for many people in the US: exemplary are its decision not to overgrow, to have trees and flowers all along the roads of the city, to prohibit advertisement beyond a certain dimension, to have beautiful, clean, non-polluted beaches, to be a high point of the arts and culture, etc.

The trouble is that such a city then attracts many rich people who want to live in it and as a result the prices of land and housings increase a lot. That is not democratic and good either.

Chapter 7 - Of Optimism

We must be infectious optimists, inspiring, uplifting, contagious, irresistible optimists.

[GMW #4245] Nurture A Peaceful, Democratic, Globally Well Managed Planet That A Few Nation's Tactics Do Not Thwart

[GMW #4245] Nurture A Peaceful, Democratic, Globally Well Managed Planet That A Few Nation's Tactics Do Not Thwart Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000

I wish that a scholar or institute of international affairs would publish a comprehensive work on rights and tactics governments use when they do not like a decision or action by the United Nations.  Here are a few categories:

Outright opposition
The use of the veto power by veto countries
This is used or threatened against any proposal or need for a charter review or action that does not please them.

Delaying tactics
For example, all the delays in agreeing to a human rights charter of the world's indigenous people or the delays imposed on the adoption of the Earth Charter and there are many other examples.

Water down tactics
Example, the watering down over the years of the proposals of Malta for a world law and regulation, protection of the seas and oceans.  The ratification by the United States took place only after very little of the original proposals was left.

Non-paying tactics
e.g. Non-payment or delayed payments of dues to the United Nations budget.

Destruction tactics
Conditions to the election of the UN Secretary General only if he approves and decides to abolish certain UN initiatives, activities or offices. For example, the abolition of the Center on Multinational Corporations in the case of the election of Mr. Boutros Ghali.

One wonders how we can obtain a peaceful, democratic, globally well-managed planet under such conditions.

Chapter 4 - On Positive Living

When a little adversity or accident occurs to you, welcome it: under the law of great numbers not everything can go well all the time. Therefore a little mishap may protect you from greater ones.
