[GMW #3072] Population A World Priority

[GMW #3072] Population A World Priority
Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 3500

~ Idea 3466 ~
How many leaders in the world worry about the fact that there will be seventy-eight million more people in the world in this year 2000 after deducting from the 128 million of newly born the 50 million humans who will die and that next year the increase will be only a little less, namely seventy-six million more people?

A much more rapid decline of population should be a priority item on the agenda of world affairs.

Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living,
Volume  II Chapter 13 Of Speaking
The same way as the Hopis sing to their corn to help it grow, we must sing to our whole being, to our body, to our eyes, to our heart, to our mind, to the trillions of cells, our helpers of life. A mother sings to her child. A couple sings and dances when falling in love. The whole world must learn to sing and to dance together. World cooperation must take the form of a festival, of a joyous world-wide song and dance.

There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy.
Our own brain, our own heart is our temple;
the philosophy is kindness.

Radical Kindness: The Banker Who Gave It All Away
On the surface, Philip Wollen does not look like the radical type. Named as one of the top-wanted executives in Australia, he was a vice-president of Citibank when he was 34 and a general manager at Citicorp. Around 1990, however, Philip decided to give away 90% of his capital. His aim, he says, is to die broke; to give away all he owns with "warm hands." Now, his Winsome Constance Kindness Trust (named after his mother and grandmother) supports all sorts of humanitarian causes around he world. The website of his trust says, "we don't want your money," and proclaims that its mission is "to promote kindness towards all other living beings." { read more }

[GMW #2738] Ways Of Improving The World - A Main Purpose Of All Literature

[GMW #2738] Ways Of Improving The World - A Main Purpose Of All Literature Idea Dream -Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 3500
~ Idea 3131 ~
A student from a group of visitors from the University of Vermont told me after hearing me speak that he saw recently a book entitled A Hundred Ways to Change the World.  I commented: that is only a beginning.  I have written and published 3000 ways of saving and improving the world and I do not cease writing more of them.  It should be a new, very important literature.  It should be a main purpose of all literature.

A Poet's Take on The Mystery of Existence
"When I start to write, I'm not a guide or teacher; I'm not even a poet. I'm a person far out at sea, and the poem is a raft made of whatever floats past in the water. Those almost accidental rescuing pieces are words, rhythms, musics, ideas, the memory that is mine and the memory that is all of ours and the memory that is held in language itself. The experience of writing, for me at least, isn't confidence or wisdom; it's closer to desperation. There is that in us that recognizes: 'this is water; this is land.' A poem is land found, as if for the first time. If I already knew what it would hold, I wouldn't need the poem, and if what it holds were knowable by any other words or way, I wouldn't need the poem." Poetess Jane Hirshfield reflects on how writing with a spirit of openness and courage can offer a door into the mysteries of our inner and collective experiences. { read more }

Be The Change

Take a closer look at the art around you -- perhaps a poem, painting, dance, or even nature -- and recognize them as gateways to interconnection, tenderness, and imagination.
