[GMW #4491] Nurture Beautification Of Towns & City Across The Planet - Arts, Culture, Flowers, Nature

[GMW #4491] Nurture Beautification Of Towns & City Across The Planet - Arts, Culture, Flowers, Nature Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000

~ Idea 4877 ~
A city like Santa Barbara could be a model for the world as it is already for many people in the US: exemplary are its decision not to overgrow, to have trees and flowers all along the roads of the city, to prohibit advertisement beyond a certain dimension, to have beautiful, clean, non-polluted beaches, to be a high point of the arts and culture, etc.

The trouble is that such a city then attracts many rich people who want to live in it and as a result the prices of land and housings increase a lot. That is not democratic and good either.

We must be infectious optimists, inspiring, uplifting, contagious, irresistible optimists.

[GMW #4485] As Big Cities Become Unlivable People Will To Relocate In Nature And Smaller Cities

[GMW #4485] As Big Cities Become Unlivable People Will To Relocate In Nature And Smaller Cities Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000

~ Idea 4871 ~
New York City and San Francisco are apparently the two cities of the United States where real estate (housing, renting, buildings, etc.) are the highest priced in the country. I am surprised. I thought that they would be the lowest, more and more people refusing to live in such monstrous, overpopulated places and leaving them to return to smaller cities or living on the land. Well, it will happen sooner or later when those big cities will have become unlivable.

It reminds me of the remark of a big builder in the United States who, when visiting the UN Secretary General and hearing my observation, "Why do you create such monstrous cities? Are not the people some day going to abandon them?" answered me: "

You are right, they will. Every major construction firm in the United States has a plan for the abandonment of the big cities, but this is where we make the money until the people will relocate in nature and in smaller urbanization and in nature."

Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living,
Volume II - The Art of Personal Happy LivingChapter 7 - Of Optimism

When I joined the UN after World War II, I was a very pessimistic young man. Having seen the horrors committed between two highly civilized, white, advanced countries, France and Germany; having had a grandfather who had five successive nationalities due to three wars (French, German, French, German and French again) without leaving his village; having had a father who was twice a French soldier and once a German soldier; having seen half of my cousins in French and the other half in German uniforms, with the possibility that they might kill each other, I wondered how a world of black and whites, of communists and capitalists, of poor and rich, of 5000 languages, 2000 religions, so many nations and ethnic groups would ever make it without another world war. In my view such a war would break out in less than twenty years.

Today, in 2002, I am an optimist who is convinced that humanity will succeed and that we have a great, incredible third millennium before us. What was achieved by the United Nations during the past fifty-five years, would have seemed inconceivable to me in 1945.

I have told the story of my growing optimism and offered my ideas in numerous books, articles and speeches. I have done my duty as one of the first world servants during an entire adult life in the first universal, global organization of this planet, the United Nations. I thank God for having given me that privilege and opportunity.

[GMW #4477] Regeneration Of Earth - Renaturing , Limiting Human Occupation Of Earth

[GMW #4477] Regeneration Of Earth - Renaturing , Limiting Human Occupation Of Earth Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000

~ Idea 4863 ~
Thank God that 71 percent of the Earth's surface are seas and oceans and that there are also many mountain areas and deserts. Someone should calculate how much surface the three together represent. If they did not exist, the whole surface of the Earth would be covered with cities, industries, roads, highways and airports.

Could humans not at least decide to limit their occupation of the Earth and stop the process of de-earthing and denaturing?

Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living,
Volume II - The Art of Personal Happy Living
Chapter 6 - Of Hope

Decide to Hope
Be an enthusiast, a prophet of hope

Never give up hope
Be a daily model of hope
Give hope to your trillions
    of little cells
    to your faithful heart
    to your wonderful mind
    to all your marvelous organs
to the creativity of your hands
Give hope to all people around you
Have hope in yourself
    in your children
    in humanity
    in the world
Have hope even in after-death
For hope is the elixir of life

Hope is a main concern of God
Who holds you, humanity, the world
    and the whole universe together
    in His boundless loving arms.

Sometimes in the summer evenings they walked up the hill to watch the afterglow clinging to the tops of the western mountains and to feel the breeze drawn into the valley by the rising day-heated air.

Usually they stood silently for a while and breathed in peacefulness. Since both were shy they never talked about themselves. Neither knew about the other at all.

[GMW #4476] Nurture Beautiful Livable Places With Meaning & Nature - Not Harming Earth

[GMW #4476] Nurture Beautiful Livable Places With Meaning & Nature - Not Harming Earth Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000

~ Idea 4862 ~
Seen from the skies the overconstructed, overcrowded cities down here on Earth do not seem as desirable as they may be on Earth. They look rather like unlivable places, harmful to the Earth, deprived of meaning and nature. And to think that people are ready to pay big sums of money to rent or buy very expensive housings in such horrible cities.  How is such a thing possible?

Volume II - The Art of Personal Happy Living
Chapter 6 - Of Hope

You are filled with life's more precious treasure... Hope!

We don’t have to wait for some grand utopian future. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory.
