[GMW #4324] A Nurturing Education For All Children Of The World

[GMW #4324] A Nurturing Education For All Children Of The World                               Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000
~ Idea 4710 ~
At the beginning of the third millennium in 2002, when we are more than 6 billion people, we learn from UNESCO that there are still 113 million children in the world who receive no education.  A few years ago there were several hundred millions of them.

Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living,Volume II - The Art of Personal Happy Living
Chapter 5 - Of Love

There is one great law in life: the law of love for everything we do. If I love to live, then life will be beautiful. If I love my family, I will have a happy family. If I love my work, I will be successful. If I love my house, I will have a beautiful home. If I love to study, to write, to read, to paint, to sculpt, to garden, to hobby, to sing, to walk, my life will be enriched by loving these activities. If I love God, I will be given supreme, cosmic happiness and will probably resuscitate.

[GMW #4258] Nature, Organic Orchards & Gardens In Cities

[GMW #4258] Nature, Organic Orchards & Gardens In Cities Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000
~ Idea 4646 ~
Citizens of cities should be invited or allowed to form cooperatives to buy sizable pieces of land even in the middle of cities to maintain orchards and gardens, to grow fruit trees, organic foods and save a piece of God's nature.  The city of Santa Barbara in the USA has such a place. It is called the Fairview Organic Gardens. We buy all our vegetables and fruits there.

Chapter 4 - On Positive Living

Humans have tremendous possibilities for destruction as well as for construction. This is true for individuals as well as for the entire human race. If only all nations, all religions, all human institutions could always be on the constructive side!

WORD FOR THE DAY
The trick, it seems, is to be able to hold both things very close – the gratitude and the misery – and then, with a semblance of faith, to let them fly.

[GMW #4110] Cultivate Paradise - Our World Garden Of Miracuous, Life Bearing Planet Earth

[GMW #4110] Cultivate Paradise - Our World Garden Of Miracuous, Life Bearing Planet Earth      Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000
IDEAS 4501 TO 4600 INTRODUCTION
The great writer Voltaire spent all his life trying to figure out the meaning of human life, its secret, its fulfillment.  He ended his works and efforts with this advice:

Cultivez votre jardin
Cultivate your garden

I too, another Frenchman, have tried hard through war and peace to figure out the secret, the meaning and fulfillment of human life and have ended with the same conclusion: let us cultivate our garden.

The trouble is that most of the people have no longer a garden to cultivate.

My dear wife Barbara gave me the new answer:

Cultivate the garden of the world
Cultivez le jardin du monde

Yes, let us make the Earth a paradise. There is no point of looking for it on other galaxies. Paradise is here on this miraculous, life bearing planet Earth. Let us make it our prime objective, our Garden of Eden, for the immediate future and for all times to come.

Wisdom is the ability to distinguish between good and bad.

Hence, there is a wisdom for every particular entity or group: a personal wisdom, a family wisdom, a corporate wisdom, a national wisdom.

The greatest wisdom still needed at this point of our evolution is world wisdom, namely the ability to distinguish between what is good and bad for humanity and for the Earth as a whole. It is the fundamental role of the United Nations to help develop that wisdom.

[GMW #4066] Military Expenditures Report For All Countries Of The World Published Yearly Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000
~ Idea 4459 ~
If the Fiscal and Financial Commission and Secretariat Branch of the United Nations where I worked as a young official after World War II had not been suppressed, I am sure that information like that below and in Annex II would be published today by the UN for all countries of the world.

What a great pity that it is not the case. Global Military Expenditures 2002 Global military expenditures currently exceed $800 BILLION!

The top military spenders are: United States $343.2 Billion Russia* $60 China* $42 Japan $40.4 United Kingdom $34 Saudi Arabia $27.2 France $25.3 Germany $21 Brazil $17.9 India $15.6 Italy $15.5 South Korea $11.8 *Based on 2000 funding (most recent year available)

Global Priorities For approximately 30% of Annual World Military Expenditures (-$810 billion), all of the following could be accomplished
- Eliminate Starvation and Malnutrition ($19 billion)
- Provide Shelter ($21 billion)
- Remove Landmines ($4 billion)
- Build Democracy ($3 billion)
- Eliminate Nuclear Weapons ($7 billion)
- Refugee Relief ($5 billion)
- Eliminate Illiteracy ($5 billion)
- Provide Clean, Safe Water ($10 billion)
- Provide Health Care and AIDS Control ($21 billion)
- Stop Deforestation ($7 billion)
- Prevent Global Warming ($8 billion)
- Stabilize Population ($10.5 billion)
- Prevent Acid Rain ($8 billion)

Chapter 2 - Our Miraculous Planetary Home

How can people lose their time in trifles, unconcerned, unamazed by the miracle of life?
How can we be blind?

The universe is in a child, in a flower, in a garden, in a house, in one's work, in a song, in a painting, in every human being. God is everywhere, as long as our attitude is one of respect, gratitude and endless wonder at the prodigy of life. The beauty of the universe is in my home and in the immensity of the heavens.
