[GMW #2437] Abandon Prevailing Madnesses - Expand the Untouchable Commons

Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 1001 to 1500
~ Idea 1372 ~
13 April 1998
In the year 2000, the UN should inaugurate in its gardens a tall monument to all unknown peacemakers who died in the service of peace and justice all over the globe in human history.

Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living,
Volume II Chapter 12 - Of Forgiveness
"One should forgive any injury. It has been said that the continuation of the species is due to man's being forgiving. Forgiveness is holiness; by forgiveness the universe is held together. Forgiveness is the might of the mighty; forgiveness is sacrifice; forgiveness is quiet of the mind. Forgiveness and gentleness are the qualities of the self-possessed. They represent eternal virtue."
-- The Mahabharata

can possibly find out how far one can go."
-- TS Eliot

"Being kind is a way of life. It's a choice each day.
There is something magical and whimsical about being kind.

The ripple effect is fun to observe and
quietly recognize your tiny part
in what may be a miracle
in the making for someone."

Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 1001 to 1500
Idea 1371 12 April 1998
Another monument should be commissioned for the anniversary of the despatch of the first UN Peace-keeping force, in honor of all the peacekeeping and peacemaking servants who died in course of the years.

Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living,
Volume II Chapter 12 - Of Forgiveness
Rich nations should ask to be forgiven for stealing innumerable works of art from colonies and poor countries. Years ago I got a resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly asking for the return of works of art to their countries of origin.  Each year some returns are being made.  Thus the golden crown of St. Stephen was returned by the US to Hungary and the quetzal feathers coronation mantel of Montezuma was returned by Austria to Mexico.
But these are only trickles.  Many 'great' museums of the rich countries remain robbers’ dens.

11 April 1998
On 10 December 1998, the 50th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UN should commission a monument honoring all UN servants and voluntary workers who died in the service and defense of human rights around the world.

Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living,
Volume II Chapter 12 - Of Forgiveness
There should be on this planet a science, an art, a policy, a methodology of forgiveness. Why not teach forgiveness in all schools of the world?

[GMW #1653] Monuments To Unknown Peacemakers In Each Capitol Of The World And Other Places Too

Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 1 to 500

~ Idea 268 ~ 4 April 1995

Former Secretary General U Thant once said to me after returning from a trip abroad: "Robert, in each capitol I visit they take me to a monument to the unknown soldier to light a flame, but I have never been taken to a monument to the unknown peacemaker."

I remembered his comment when I became Chancellor of the University for Peace. There we have now the first monument on Earth to unknown peacemakers. I recommend that such monuments be erected in each capitol of the world. It is high time. (See Idea 321.)

Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living,
Volume III Chapter 5 Of Adulthood

I was more myself when I was a child. I could burst out with joy and also cry. I was fascinated by everything. I fell asleep at night, exhausted by the practice of life.

Today, as an adult, I am a cross-section of many lives and thoughts. I am a crosspoint of people, of very vast problems and time dimensions.

I speak and write as an instrument of the universe, of the planet, of humanity and of life. I am giving back what I have received. I try to inspire others, as I am inspired myself. Everyone will find in me an echo of himself or herself. Perhaps the greatest virtue of adulthood is to inspire confidence and deep love for life.

During your adulthood there comes a time when you must be born again, when you must find again the simplicity, resplendence and integrity of your childhood and the dreams of your youth.

Many an individual has turned from the mean, personal, acquisitive point of view to one that sees society as a whole and works for its benefit. If there has been such a change in one person, there can be the same change in many.
