| | | [GMW #1653] Monuments To Unknown Peacemakers In Each Capitol Of The World And Other Places Too | Tuesday 3 February 2009, Editor: Easy | RobertMuller.org | Contact | Subscribe | Unsubscribe | | GMW Blogs: English | Portuguese | Spanish | Tagalog | Dutch | | Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 1 to 500 | ~ Idea 268 ~ 4 April 1995 Former Secretary General U Thant once said to me after returning from a trip abroad: "Robert, in each capitol I visit they take me to a monument to the unknown soldier to light a flame, but I have never been taken to a monument to the unknown peacemaker." I remembered his comment when I became Chancellor of the University for Peace. There we have now the first monument on Earth to unknown peacemakers. I recommend that such monuments be erected in each capitol of the world. It is high time. (See Idea 321.) * |
| Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living, Volume III Chapter 5 Of Adulthood | I was more myself when I was a child. I could burst out with joy and also cry. I was fascinated by everything. I fell asleep at night, exhausted by the practice of life. Today, as an adult, I am a cross-section of many lives and thoughts. I am a crosspoint of people, of very vast problems and time dimensions. I speak and write as an instrument of the universe, of the planet, of humanity and of life. I am giving back what I have received. I try to inspire others, as I am inspired myself. Everyone will find in me an echo of himself or herself. Perhaps the greatest virtue of adulthood is to inspire confidence and deep love for life. During your adulthood there comes a time when you must be born again, when you must find again the simplicity, resplendence and integrity of your childhood and the dreams of your youth. * | | Many an individual has turned from the mean, personal, acquisitive point of view to one that sees society as a whole and works for its benefit. If there has been such a change in one person, there can be the same change in many. Mahatma Gandhi www.gratefulness.org WORD FOR THE DAY
