All continents and regions should follow the example of Latin America which, by the Treaty of Tlatelolco, has banned all nuclear weapons from that region. A United Nations colleague of mine, Alfonso Garcias Robles from Mexico, started that process in the United Nations immediately after World War II, and received the Nobel Peace Prize for it. Any other candidates? Elimination is the name, not non-proliferation. Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living, Volume II - The Art of Personal Happy Living Chapter 12 - Of Beauty and Arts "What do you think an artist is? An imbecile who only has eyes when he is a painter; only ears when he is a musician? Only a lyre when a poet? On the contrary, the artist is altogether a person who constantly participates in the world's events, sweet or bitter.... who is an additional tool to fight against the enemies of humanity's progress." ~ Picasso * UN News: UN Chronicle, United Nations News Service, UN Wire Archive References: Earth Charter, Universal Declaration of Human Rights Rights of: Children,Women,Indigenous People To Be Written: Rights of Nature, Birds, Animals, Fish, etc. Daily Ray of Hope Photo by Dave Johnson, landscape photographer and traveller | Porteau Cove in British Columbia, Canada There are always flowers for those who want to see them. ~ Henri Matisse More from Robert Muller: RobertMuller.org Subscribe to/or unsubscribe from Robert Muller's GoodMorningWorld.org Click on any of these tags-labels to see more entries from Robert that have the tag-label:

[GMW #4763] A Common World Security System & Then Disarmament Of The Planet

[GMW #4763] A Common World Security System & Then Disarmament Of The Planet Thursday, 21 Jan, 2021, Editor: Easy RobertMuller.org| Contact| Subscribe | Unsubscribe Biography| World Core Curriculum | Store |Facebook | Twitter GMW Blogs: English | Portuguese | Spanish| Tagalog | Dutch Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000 ~ FP 08 - First Priorities As Secretary General of the United Nations ~ I have always admired the provisions of the UN Charter which created the Military Staff Committee of the Security Council, consisting of the heads of armies of the five Permanent Members of the Council. Its tasks were: 1. to propose a bold, common world security system; 2. thereafter, to proceed to the disarmament of the planet. This was admirable, pure logic, the grand way to lead to colossal savings on this planet but it was cut short of implementation by the cold war. Now that the cold war is over, I would recommend that the Military Staff Committee be pressed to accomplish the tasks meant for it. On an ad hoc basis a head of army from Africa, Asia and Latin America should be added to it. Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living Volume II - The Art of Personal Happy Living Chapter 12 - Of Forgiveness I would like the United Nations to submit a yearly report on World forgiveness: forgiveness for past misdeeds, forgiveness for hatred and antagonism, forgiveness for untruths, false accusations and harsh language, forgiveness for wars and killings, for exploiting, for damaging, for destroying the Earth. * UN News: UN Chronicle, United Nations News Service, UN Wire Archive References: Earth Charter, Universal Declaration of Human Rights Rights of: Children,Women,Indigenous People To Be Written: Rights of Nature, Birds, Animals, Fish, etc. WORD FOR THE DAY Please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, "If this isn’t nice, I don’t know what is." ~ Kurt Vonnegut More from Robert Muller: RobertMuller.org Subscribe to/or unsubscribe from Robert Muller's GoodMorningWorld.org Click on any of these tags-labels to see more entries from Robert that have the tag-label:
