When they retire they usually offer their archives to the United Nations archives but these are so overloaded with official archives that they have no room for individual ones. Most of them are then thrown away, and not kept by the families. I feel personally unhappy when I think of all the important events I have participated in or shaped, of which I have kept records in my journals and preserved papers and that all this will disappear, cared for by no one, lost forever for the global history of humanity and of the Earth, when I die.
