Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 1001 to 1500
Idea 1178  1 October 1997
Continued from  [GMW 2505].
I read these thoughts given to me in the evening and consider them indeed important.  A science of ideas seems really necessary, accompanied by a strategy or direction of ideas, and a methodology.  Here is the third of the four ideas:

As the meditator begins to demonstrate soul quality in their daily life, they become a magnet for spiritual ideas.  They attract into their field of consciousness the outlines, and later the details of the hierarchical Plan.  These impressions they need not seek out nor learn laboriously to ascertain.  They drop into their mind and are impressed upon their brain when they see and love and serve by the Light of the Soul.

Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living,
Volume II Chapter 13 - Of Speaking
Humanity fully depends on the sun and on this Earth for living.  Hence we must respect our star and our planet, cherish them and treat them as sacred.  And yet, we seem to have lost contact with them.  We sleep and no longer pray when the sun rises.  We live imprisoned in cities of steel and cement.  We hear radio and watch television instead of contemplating Mother Earth's nature and her wondrous gifts.  We are mistaken.  We are on a wrong trail, as Indian people say.  We should make daily offerings to the sun and to the Earth and say with our brethren and sisters in the monasteries:  "This is a good day to live and to glorify God."

On Perfection and Priority
by Thanissaro Bhikkhu

Determination seems to underlie all the perfections [of the mind]. There are four aspects to determination. You use your discernment to decide what you want to accomplish, to see how it best might be accomplished, and then you stick with it. To stick with it requires truthfulness, which doesn't mean just telling the truth; it means that once you've made up your mind, you really stick with what you've decided to do. You're true to yourself. You're not a traitor to yourself. That's what'll see you through.

This is going to involve some renunciation and require that you develop a sense of calm within the renunciation, because there are many possible pleasures in this life. If you try to gather up all of them, you go crazy. Once a year I head up to the Bay Area, where there are still traces of the human potential movement. There's a strong sense up there that you can and should actualize your full potential as a human being by striving for excellence in all areas of your life: becoming physically strong and healthy, mentally sharp, artistically creative, socially enlightened, sexually active, politically active, spiritually advanced. People rarely stop to consider that excellence in one area might actually cancel out or preclude excellence in another. [read more]
