a Mediterranean Peace Organization (MEDPO)
a Pacific Peace Organization (PAPO)

Once I met an expert who had been hired by a big foundation to evaluate the UN's first world conference on the environment held in Stockholm in 1972. He stopped me and said: "Robert, you will be interested in my conclusion, the environment is basically a spiritual issue."

He saw surprise written on my face and continued:

"Yes. If a businessperson or a politician takes a decision thinking only of its effects during his lifetime they will not care about the environment.

But if they think of the effects on his children, grandchildren and future generations, they will care for it.

It is therefore a spiritual question."
