a proper Earth
and humanity
government all
tax free shops
in airports
selling
alcohol and
tobacco
products at
reduced prices
would be
closed.
Sitting in front of such a shop at the airport of Costa Rica waiting for a plane to take me to the first meeting of the World Commission on Global Consciousness and Spirituality in Canada I was shocked by the numerous sales to passengers, mostly for gifts. Yes, alcohol and smoking transformed into gifts, into gestures of friendship and love! The UN Civil Aviation Organization should publish yearly statistics on such sales world-wide. It would create a shock. Governments and the international community would react to it. I wonder if such shops and sales are allowed in the airports of Muslim countries which totally condemn the production, transportation, sales and consumption of alcohol, (Arab word meaning the devil). They will never be able to travel beyond its limits, despite all the fantasies of science fiction. How lucky we are, therefore, to have our little planet to stand on, our oxygen to breathe, our sun to heat, illuminate and nourish us, our waters to quench our thirst. But alas, to those who destroy it, to the pessimists who denigrate life we cannot even say: "Love this planet or leave it," for there is no other place to go. They will die on this Earth and be recycled in its ground, hopefully to be reborn as optimistic, life-loving creatures.
