"Non-violence is the greatest force at the disposal of humankind.  It is mightier than the mightiest weapon of destruction devised by the ingenuity of man." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Chapter 5 - Of Love

Human relations on this planet are too cold. We must warm them up. The temperature of international relations, in particular, must be raised to a germinating birth-giving level.

The human ice age and its cold wars have lasted much too long. This must be the responsibility of each of us.

Any personal warmth we can contribute to human relations will raise the general temperature of the world society.

How can we expect nations to be loving and compassionate if we are not loving and compassionate ourselves?

The reverberation often exceeds through silence the sound that sets it off; the reaction occasionally outdoes by way of repose the event that stimulated it; and the past not uncommonly takes a while to happen, and some long time to figure out.
~ Ken Kesey
