Researchers and historians will then look into the archives of the world agencies and private papers of its officials. They will be dismayed to see how little interest and vastly insufficient resources were devoted to these archives. The challenge offered by the preservation of the world's and humanity's global archives should be taken much more seriously by the General Assembly of the UN. The perennial argument: there is no money for that, should be rejected. Philanthropists should also take a vivid interest in that subject and follow the example of the Rockefeller Brothers who financed the infinitely better archives of the first League of Nations in Geneva. * |
