| | | [GMW #1776] Restitution Of Stolen Art And Creating World Museums As Common Heritage Of Humanity | Tuesday 11 Aug 2009, Editor: Easy | RobertMuller.org | Contact | Subscribe | Unsubscribe | | GMW Blogs: English | Portuguese | Spanish | Tagalog | Dutch | | Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 1 to 500 | ~ Idea 410 ~ 24 August 1995 Further to my idea 119 on the international restitution of stolen works of art, I recommend that countries which do not return such works should pay their value to the robbed country. Law suits for restitutions or indemnization should be receivable by the International Court of Justice. One of the very first cases should be the freezes of the Parthenon stolen by Lord Elgin and kept in a somber basement of the British Museum. One could also envisage the creation of world or global museums for the conservation and display of such works, if the robbed country prefers. The great works of art of the human journey belong to all humanity. UNESCO should create a network of world museums which would be the common heritage of humanity. * |
| Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living, Volume III Chapter 7 Return To Mother Earth | I once dreamt to be buried in the Park of Nations, next to the United Nations, overlooking the Geneva Lake and in full view of my beloved Mont Blanc. On my tombstone would be a statue with my outstretched hands and the inscription: Peace, I am waiting for you. * | | "Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow."
