[GMW #4140] New Songs To Show How One Person Can Make A Difference

[GMW #4140] New Songs To Show How One Person Can Make A Difference   Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000
~ Idea 4530 ~
From Barbara Gaughen Muller

As Robert and I listen to the radio in our simple cabin on Mt. Rasur, so many songs reflect the peace and justice humanity seeks. This morning the song, 'If I Had A Hammer', speaks to the theme of justice.  "I'd hammer out justice, I'd hammer out love for all the people all over the world."  Once when riding in a taxi to the airport in New York, I asked the cab driver what two songs he remembers learning first. He said, 'If I Had a Hammer', and 'Let There Be Peace on Earth'.

There could be two new songs 'The Cleanest Mile on Earth', to show how one person can make a difference, and a Hopi song, 'Kogyun Deyo', the name Spider Boy given to Robert Muller to remind him to capture all evil on planet Earth in a vast spider web and toss it far into outer space.

Once in a corridor of the UN I commented to a colleague that within a few minutes we had met three heads of states. He replied: "Never mind. If you have seen one, you have seen them all."

[GMW #4139] Find Meaning Without Buying And Shopping

To Robert, the man of my dreams and Dreams for a Better World. Here are three ideas for you from me for a Better World.
Barbara Gaughen Muller

The best seller book Ladder of Years by Anne Tyler speaks of personal courage of the heroine, to leave her confused, meaningless life and start over with nothing but the clothes on her back and $500. The process of the benefits of simplicity to find one's meaning for life is summed up when she moves  to a new home with her thoughts on page 171, "she liked the notion of a life no larger than a single, compact box."

What a beautiful idea that each of us could have a more meaningful life, as Gandhi did. When all his possessions at his death were gathered they took less space than one compact box. And this man of few possessions is remembered today and his teachings have become world known and honored.

The book, Ladder of Years that speaks to a different way of finding meaning without buying and shopping became a best seller.

[GMW #4138] Write Books Appealing To Idealism, Generosity, & Contributions Of All To A Better World

The United Nations and its agencies are the biggest publishers on Earth on world subjects and problems. This reflects the planet-wide and human-wide scope of the concerns of the United Nations. No one would have predicted that when the UN was created in 1945.

And yet in my view it is not good enough because all the published books are above all intellectual books, books of information, which is important, but there are very few of them which speak from the heart and to the hearts of the people.

There are a few children's books, but no books appealing to the idealism of young people, to the generosity of the elderly and contributions of all humans to a better world.  I am one of the few retired United Nations officials who has written sentimental, beautiful love stories of the United Nations.

It is not Germany nor any other country that should be above the world, as their national hymn proclaims. It is the world which should be above all countries.  Menschheit, Menschheit über Alles, not Deutschland, Deutschland über Alles.

[GMW #4137] Organic Farms - A Good Place For Young People To Live

[GMW #4137] Organic Farms - A Good Place For Young People To Live   Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000
~ Idea 4527 ~
The Christian Science Monitor published in February 2002 a very interesting article on young American farmers who decide to engaged in organic farming, especially organic milk production. The market of organic production by farmers, including beef, cereals, eggs, fruits and vegetables is growing by 20 million dollars a year according to the Organic Trade Organization.

This has also the wonderful effect of keeping young people on the land instead of rushing to overcrowded cities.

It is typical that in the attempted coup against President Gorbachev, the three main instigators were the head of the armed forces, the Minister of Interior and the KGB.  Two of the three committed suicide.

As long as we relate to the trees, the rivers, the mountains, the fields and the oceans as properties which we can manipulate according to our real or fabricated needs, nature remains opaque, and does not reveal to us its true being.
