[GMW #3760] Universities Protect Their Forests Forever

[GMW #3760] Universities Protect Their Forests Forever Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000
~ Idea 4155 ~
Dear Earth, I have one more good news: admiring today a beautiful mountain entirely covered by forests without access to automobiles in the chain of mountains bordering Santa Barbara I asked if this was public property and learned that it belonged to the University of California at Santa Barbara.

How wonderful. I will ask the World Association of University Presidents to make a world survey of protected natural areas belonging to universities. It might be quite considerable.

I was thinking of the more than 800 acres of primeval tropical forests donated to the UN University for Peace in Costa Rica on the condition that they will remain forever protected.

Such a survey would be part of the broader world survey of land ownership I am recommending to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva.

Human beings are future oriented: everyone regrets no longer to be alive in a hundred years; but nobody regrets not to have lived a hundred years ago.  Or could it be that we instinctively know that the future will be better than the past, despite our complaints?

[GMW #3759] Saving Earth With Less Earth Harming Humans

[GMW #3759] Saving Earth With Less Earth Harming Humans  Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000
~ Idea 4154 ~
The Earth: "Dear Robert, I feel so good these days because there are two major hopes for me on the horizon:

First the diminishing number of the western population by 40 million between now and the year 2050. This is for me good news because a western human consumes thirty times more of my resources than a human of a poor country. It is equivalent to a diminishing 1.2 billion of the world's poor population.

Second, the news of the diminishing fertility of the western male population. The diminishing of that population might therefore continue. Hopefully it will also be the case in the poor countries.

Perhaps I can be saved after all with less humans remaining on my surface. But it still is very much touch and go."

Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living,
Volume III - The Seasons of Life
Chapter 7 - Return to Mother Earth
Dear God,
The thought of my own death does not frighten me.  What wounds me is to know that my beloved ones, our children and the children of their children will die someday.  I would like them to live eternally.

God:
"But they live eternally, my son.  Death follows life.  Birth follows death.  Life is eternally renewed from the body and heart of the Earth and from the soul of the universe."

[GMW #3758] Try - Never Give Up. Never

[GMW #3758] Try - Never Give Up. Never Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000
~ Idea 4153 ~
I often ask myself what the last of my thousands of ideas will be. This one came to my mind: I have tried so much and I have largely failed.

Dear human brothers and sisters, continue to try and you will at long last succeed. Please never give up. Never.

Chapter 7 - Return to Mother Earth
O God, make sure that I shall die during my sleep.  Simply stop and give a rest to my good, old, faithful heart which has done infinitely more than its duty.

[GMW #3757] Nurture Creative Crazy Ideas Like The Common Concern Of Climate Change

[GMW #3757] Nurture Creative Crazy Ideas Like The Common Concern Of Climate Change Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000
~ Idea 4152 ~
When in the 70's I was Director of the UN Secretary General Office I received letters from scientists who urged the United Nations to look into the climate of the world which they considered to be in danger of warming and leading to a change of direction of ocean currents by the year 2020. I listened to them and obtained the convening of the first UN Conference on World Climate in 1979, but in United Nations circles I was considered crazy to come up with that idea. Well, the next twenty years were spent in denying that there would be major climatic changes on planet Earth. Finally in July 2001 at a conference of 180 governments on that subject in Bonn it was stated that there can be no longer any doubt that there is a danger of climatic changes. The debate moved to what should be done about it. It confirms the old saying that a new idea or concern is first considered crazy, then it is fought noisily and finally it is recognized as common sense. But what precious time this makes us lose in a rapidly and dangerously changing world.

Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living,
Volume III - The Seasons of Life
Chapter 7 - Return to Mother Earth
It would be fascinating if the United Nations or the World Health Organization would collect and study the etymology, the meaning of the word death in all languages of the world.

[GMW #3756] Establish World Peace Security Organization Now

[GMW #3756] Establish World Peace Security Organization Now Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000
~ Idea 4151 ~
It is generally forgotten that the United Nations was principally the result of the work and planning of militaries. President Roosevelt, Churchill and Stalin at the Yalta Conference asked the heads of their armies to prepare proposals for a peace securing organization to be created after World War II.

They did and submitted a plan for a world peace organization which would guarantee the security of nations and as a result permit disarmament.

The plan was diluted into a broader organization named the United Nations.

Soon thereafter the cold war killed all efforts to implement the security and disarmament features of the UN Charter. Since the cold war has ended and no other cold war developed with China I recommend that the militaries of the great powers be requested to re-examine the original World Peace Security Organization and see if it could not be established now.

It would be a most useful, timely, very important attempt.

Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living,
Volume III - The Seasons of Life
Chapter 7 - Return to Mother Earth
The Hunzas have a good concept of death: it happens at a very advanced age, at night, during sleep. It should not be preceded by sickness. Death for them is the natural ending, a falling asleep, a peaceful, unnoticed transition to another life.
