[GMW #4154] Vital World Governance Nurturing Hope, Dreams & Addressing Urgent Tasks

[GMW #4154] Vital World Governance Nurturing Hope, Dreams & Addressing Urgent Tasks   Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000
~ Idea 4544 ~
For me, the tall UN building is an edifice of human hope and dreams jutting into the sky and receiving from the universe increasingly clear messages and vaster, more urgent tasks.

The UN is terribly important, but also terribly insufficient. It is the most powerless vital institution on Earth. Many national governments, especially the big powers, consider it a danger and a competition rather than a crowning of their governmental tasks on the planet. When will this attitude change?

Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living,
Volume I - The Great Scene of Creation
Chapter 4 - Our Place in Time

I would like to see a whole series of studies and articles published, showing how the world, nature, the continents, the regions, countries and local communities looked like in the years 2000 BC, 1000 BC, 1,1000 and 2000 A.D. It would show the incredible extent of our journey, our successes and failures, give us a clue to the deeper meaning of life and guide our future destiny in the next 1000 years.

[GMW #3260] Get Values Straight - Nature-Rich, Non-Industrialized, Non-Commercialized Is Real Capital

[GMW #3260] Get Values Straight - Nature-Rich, Non-Industrialized, Non-Commercialized Is Real Capital Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 3500
~ Idea 3660 ~
A nature-rich, pure-air, non-industrialized, non-commercialized country, not over constructed country like Costa Rica represents a greater capital than all the overpopulated, monstrous, unnatural cities of the world. We must get our values straight.

Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living,
Volume II The Art of Personal Happy Living
Chapter 8, Of Health

The World Health Organization has recommended unanimously to all countries:
1. that non-smoking should be regarded as the normal social behavior and that all action which can promote the development of this attitude be taken;
2. that there should be a total prohibition of all forms of tobacco promotion.
The world has already accepted these rules for drugs.
To the list of victories still to be won we must add total prohibition of alcohol (Al kohol: Arabic, the Devil).

[GMW #3200] Leaders Decide To Learn To Dream Again

[GMW #3200] Leaders Decide To Learn To Dream Again
Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 3500

~ Idea 3600 ~
At the beginning of this new century and millennium, the world, especially its leaders, must decide and learn to dream again. We have such an incredible knowledge of the universe, of our planet, of humanity from the global to the local, from the infinitely large to the infinitely small, from the total humanity down to the family and individual that we can now become the most evolved, perfect planet in the universe, the cosmic ideal to which God, the forces of the universe have been aiming at for millions of years on this planet. "To awake perchance to dream," as Shakespeare said.

Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living,
Volume  II Chapter 13 Of Speaking
Joy is still the best attitude towards life. I do not know of any better.

[GMW #2574] Rights Of Nature Safeguard Evolution Of Life

Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 1501 to 2000
~ Idea 1568~ 26 October 1998

After the great, global historic page of human rights opened fifty years ago in the United Nations with the adoption of the fundamental Declaration of Universal Human Rights on 10 December 1948, another great, new historical period has been opened with the drafting of an Earth Charter and the Rights of Nature, accompanied by a Declaration of Human Duties and Responsibilities. Henceforth, humankind will never be the same.

The question of our life, survival and harmony with the Earth, its elements and nature is now fully raise. Questions such as the following are now ominous:

Is it normal that we let a species die every five hours on this planet when it took evolution millions of years to form that species?

What is the human race doing to safeguard further evolution of life on this planet, save its elements, its vegetation and all other species living on it including the human species itself?

The last surviving drafter and signer of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Ambassador Feyroudin Hoveyda wrote to me recently that the declaration was considered at the time to be a mere piece of paper to be thrown into a wastepaper basket.

And yet no head of state, no government today wants to be accused for violation of human rights. The same will happen with the new texts on the rights of nature and of the Earth.

Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living,
Volume II  Chapter 2  Of Happiness
A reader wrote to me:
"I have applied your philosophy in your book Most of All, They Taught Me Happiness  in the worst circumstances for a woman:  I was happily married with a man I loved very much.  We have four children and live in a nice house in a suburban community of the beautiful Hudson Valley.  My husband's business is in New York City.  He became ever more prosperous and one day began to be unfaithful to me.  It was an excruciating experience, but I decided to overcome it:

I resolved that "under no circumstance would I let him take my happiness away from me".  I didn't change my attitude towards him, kept the family together, sought greater happiness from my children, my home and my friends.  Several years have passed and very honestly I can say that I never regretted my decision.  He was never able to take my happiness away from me."

[GMW #2568] Communities Decide To Be In Harmony With Nature

Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 1501 to 2000
~ Idea 1562 ~ 20 October 1998

More and more communities in the world should decide that they will stop to develop having reached the state of proper harmony with nature. The concept of non-growth and harmonious stability with nature should become normal in more and more places.

Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living,
Volume II  Chapter 2  Of Happiness
The Japanese word happiness means "to take things as they come".  This is a rather poor attitude towards the miracle of life.

We should better say:
"Happiness is to take things as they come
with joy when they are good and
with fortitude when they are bad."

A world book giving the etymology (meaning) of the word happiness in all languages would be a very revealing, extremely important, helpful book.

[GMW #2517] It Can Work. We Can Make It Work. Better Ways Can Be Created.

Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 1001 to 1500
~ Idea 1511 ~
30 August 1998

Sometimes when I do something with my hands, I say: "It is not going to work, it will fall, it will break." And indeed it does. I then exclaim: "Well, I knew it, I was right."

But in the back of my mind lingers the thought: "If I had held it better and been more careful and optimistic, it would not have fallen and broken." And I conclude that it was to a large extent my own fault.

Well, the same applies to social relations and to humanity. We all too often say: "It will not work." When writing these 2000 ideas I changed my attitude and said: "It will work. I and other people will make it work." As a result I never give up and the spirits of the universe visit me in the night and show me the ways.

As Immanuel Kant said:

"It will be proved, I know not when or where, that the human soul stands even in this life in indissoluble connection with all immaterial natures in the spirit world, that it reciprocally acts upon these and receives impressions and help from them."

Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living,
Volume II Chapter 13 - Of Speaking
Our planet is so small and part of such a tiny solar system among trillions of solar systems of a small galaxy among trillions of galaxies of a cluster of galaxies among trillions of super-galaxies, that our efforts to understand Creation resemble those of a flea trying to understand the whole planet Earth!  And yet, we are doing it!
