There is little danger that it will die as did the League, but it is still grossly, dangerously insufficient to prevent all wars and to be an adequate world organization for the 21st century and 3rd millennium.  Entirely new problems, like the population explosion, the environment, the world's climate, the consumption explosion, the growth of mega cities, of transports, of renuclearization, etc. have appeared since its creation in 1945. The United Nations must urgently, absolutely be replaced or transformed into a new, more effective, more powerful world organization.  If not we should pray and work that the new European Union will soon become the World Union.* * October 2002: the Union has admitted 10 more countries.  Twenty-five more are applying for membership.
