[GMW #3863] See Earth As A Beautiful Whole

[GMW #3863] See Earth As A Beautiful Whole Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000

The following words written by astronaut Russell Schweickart looking down to planet Earth can be significant for the future of humanity.

"You go around it in an hour and a half. You begin to recognize that your identity is with that whole Earth and that makes a change. You look down there and you can't imagine how many borders and boundaries you cross again and again and again and you do not even see them.... Hundreds of people killing each other over some imaginary line that you are not even aware of, that you cannot see.

And from where you see it the Earth is a whole and is so beautiful. You look down and you see the surface of that globe on which you have lived all this time and you know all those people down there are like you, they are you... From where you see it the Earth is a whole and is so beautiful." (see also pages 28, 29):

We still seem to be at the point when the serpent said to Eve:
"God knows that from the day you eat from that tree, your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be gods, knowing good and evil."

After Adam and Eve ate from the tree, their eyes opened and they knew that they were naked.
They hid and when God found them, He asked them this momentous question:  "Who told you that you were naked?"

From that consciousness on we were challenged to organize our own paradise, to manage the Earth and to try to become like God. We are still trying.

No other animal or life form knows that it is naked.

Science as a Practice of Empathy
As the crickets' soft autumn hum
is to us
so are we to the trees
as are they
to the rocks and the hills.
