[GMW #3815] Use Military Expenditures To Help Humanity & Earth

[GMW #3815] Use Military Expenditures To Help Humanity & Earth  Idea Dream - Robert Muller's Ideas 3001 to 4000
~ Idea 4210 ~
The United Nations should publish a study of what could be done if the military expenditures of nations were suppressed and used for other purposes.

Major items would be: the extremely poor (1.5 billion on this planet), illiterates (880 million women and 120 million children), the handicapped (more than 500 million), and last but not least, the preservation of the Earth.

The Secretary General should instruct the staff of the United Nations to do the job assigned by the UN Charter to the Military Staff Committee which has never met, and propose to the world a watertight security system for all nations which would permit the demilitarization and disarmament of the planet.

This was the proposal of the heads of the armies of the big nations during World War II. Unfortunately when the war was over this was never implemented. The cold war was taken as an excuse, but when the cold war was over the situation remained the same.

It would be quite a demonstration to the world if the United Nations Secretariat would publicize the scheme designed by the heads of the armies of the victorious countries.
