Why should the cosmos, or God or the universe's energy
or evolution
have taken
such pains to
create over a
million years
on planet
Earth the
incredible,
sophisticated
human species
with a beating
heart, a
thinking
brain, the
will to live
and to
reproduce, if
it was not to
be a
constructive
element of the
evolution on
that planet, a
building block
of it? We
were not
created for
our mere
enjoyment and
satisfactions
of our
current,
selfish,
materialistic
society.
We must therefore rethink almost everything in terms of what God or the cosmos really expect from us, as our contribution to the further evolution of planet Earth. Astrophysicist Eric Chaisson and Nobel prize winner biologist Christian de Duve show us the way: on any planet in the universe on which there is life, one species in the long run attains an almost complete knowledge of that planet and of part of the universe. When this happens the further evolution of that planet will depend on that species, on its values, beliefs, objectives and institutions. If these do not pay attention to the further evolution of that planet, it will be the end of the evolution of that planet. We have reached that critical stage on planet Earth. Perhaps these 5000 ideas and dreams might be of some help in defining and pointing at the required new values, beliefs, objectives and institutions of the human race. So help us God. Volume II - The Art of Personal Happy Living Chapter 10 - Of Dreams, Visions and Ideals Illusion is probably the most commonly shared human virtue, but it is not very often expressed and made an ideal worth looking up to.
