Humanity is acquiring an ecological consciousness, i.e. the consciousness of preserving, not killing the Earth, our home (Greek oikos, the home). We must also acquire an anthropological consciousness (Greek anthropos, the human being), not letting humans be killed by militaries, armaments, starvation, epidemics, air and water pollution, pesticides, homicidal violence and the death penalty. What would we say if we discovered in the universe a planet where they have militaries, trained and ready to kill each other?
