But what about national governments reform? I recommend a World Commission of Eminent Personalities on National Government Reform. It should bring about more unity in the way governments are organized, more responsive to the needs of the people and of the planet, and more coordinated with the United Nations and its agencies. It should look into the colossal waste of national military and other staggering unnecessary expenditures. The fiscal situation of nation-states is a scandal. There is no real, world economy. Why do young people heal so quickly? Simply because nature wants them to reproduce at optimum capacity. Why are the elderly less beautiful, less vigorous and slow to heal? Because, like withering flowers, plants and any other long living creatures they have lost their reproducing function and are no longer of the same use to nature. But nature has a use for every age. If we find a way to be of service to it, to the progress of life, to evolution, nature will say: "this elderly person is still useful. I have no interest in losing him or her."
