As a member of humanity my most sacred duty is to be human.

Two young men once asked me: "How come that at your
age you are so optimistic and youthful, while we are so
pessimistic and depressed?"
I answered: "Because I work for the United Nations where I can see the innumerable great, incessant efforts of humans for a better world, even if the path is strewn with colossal obstacles, obsolete idiosyncrasies, monumental errors and serious failures. Take interest in the UN and in its world agencies, conferences, international years, celebrate the world days proclaimed by the UN, and you will become optimists too."
