Pessimism and depressions might be needed for the birth of new ideas. They might be similar to the childbirth pains of mothers when they give birth to new life. Depressions might be stepping stones, stimulants of creativity. There should be a science of depressions, pessimism, and despairs, including their effects on creativity.
