Idea 4145 ~
The Nuclear Age Peace Foundation has sent me a new book
entitled A Marginal Line in the Sky, International
Perspectives on Ballistic Missile Defense. It consists of a
series of essays on which they would like my comments.
I answered that I will not read anymore any books or essays or plans for the non-proliferation of nuclear arms, the limitation of their numbers, the testing of their safety and non-endangering humanity as a result of accidents. My answer is clear and final: these weapons must all be destroyed and disappear from this planet. There is no justification whatsoever to keep them and continue to menace the entire humanity and planet. They are pure criminal, unforgivable, unintelligent madness. Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living, Volume III - The Seasons of Life Chapter 6 - The Rich Age
It is never too late to do great things, to
have bold dreams in life.
In your advanced, rich age ponder about the following extract from Beethoven's letter to his brother when he learned that he was getting deaf. It is remembered as Beethoven's Heiligenstadt Testament: "My heart and mind were ever from childhood prone to the most tender feelings of affection, and I was always disposed to accomplish something great. ...Ah! how could I possibly leave the world before bringing forth all that I felt it was my vocation to produce?" And from then on Beethoven composed his greatest symphonies! Please think the same and say to yourself: "Ah! how could I possibly leave the world before bringing forth all that I felt was my vocation to produce." It might start a miracle, a new wonder-filled life for you. & We must know how to conclude our life and complete what we want to do before it is too late. This is dramatically illustrated by this conversation of Balzac, a famous French author, with his doctor: "Can you give me six months?" asked Balzac. "It will just take me that to collect the threads of my Comédie Humaine, to add here, to cut there, to explain everywhere." The doctor shook his head. "Give me six weeks", then asked Balzac. "I can't complete my task by that time, but I can make right a few of the glaring errors and fill up a few of the worst omissions." Again the doctor shook his head. "Six days, then", begged Balzac with a groan. He died six hours later.

A new fundamental human right should be proclaimed by the United
Nations: the right of all humans to live on this planet a life
undangered, unmenaced by nuclear armaments.
These should be totally eliminated, no justification being ever acceptable for their maintenance. They are incredible, intolerable, totally unacceptable, possibly terminal dangers for humanity and for the further evolution of our planetary home. There can be no excuse, no compromise. Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living, Volume III - The Seasons of Life Chapter 6 - The Rich Age
From a speech of Albert Schweitzer to elderly
people visiting him in Lambarene:
"I cannot tell you what your destiny and future will be. But one thing I can tell you: if you are of service, you will be recompensed with untold happiness."
&
One of the greatest secrets to remain young when being old is to continue learning, working and communicating through writing and talking one's best remembrances and wisdom to the next generation, especially to children and youth.

I predict that due to the increasing gap between the rich and the
poor, both inside countries and worldwide, reaching inconceivable
magnitudes we will soon see a revival of communism, a
neo-communism, less extreme and more intelligent than the first
one and more oriented to the new overriding priority of the
preservation of the Earth and of her natural elements and
resources. We might also enter an era of catastrophes, peoples'
protests, demonstrations, revolutions and terrorism.
Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living, Volume III - The Seasons of Life Chapter 6 - The Rich Age
Do not look at your lost beauty and youth when you
are an elder.
Look instead at the youth inside you: the enthusiasm, the thrill of knowing so much, of having lived and experienced so much and being now able to transmit your wisdom and enthusiasm to youth. What a beautiful relationship this can be between the elderly and posterity! It is a whole new chapter of a fundamental new sociology, the sociology of evolution, of the passage into the future. I can see Faculties created on it in Universities.

What can we gain by sailing to the moon if we are not able to cross the abyss that separates us from ourselves? ~ Idea 4142 ~
I wonder what humans in future decades will say when they
read this statement of mine: "The western, especially US
ways of human life on planet Earth are so excessive, so
lopsided, so fundamentalist, so destructive of the Earth
that they are inapplicable to the rest of the world.
If they are not dramatically changed they will lead to one disaster after another, possibly to the end of all life on Earth." Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living, Volume III - The Seasons of Life Chapter 6 - The Rich Age When reaching advanced age, ask yourself this question: what are my passions and unfulfilled dreams? And your life will be renewed and filled with wonders.

I cannot help it but
I constantly return to the problem of words, of
linguistics: ecology comes from the Greek oikos and
logos (the knowledge, the science of our home, the
Earth). Economy is oikos nomos, the regulation, the
management of our home. Economy, alas, came before
ecology. For a long time we changed the Earth without
worrying the least about the consequences on the
Earth, on her future. The right thing to do now is to
unite economics and ecology and manage the Earth
respecting her laws and functioning and preserving her
future.
Or we should get rid of the two Greek words and speak of proper Earth management or government based on the science of the Earth? In universities there would be a Faculty of Earth Management in which students would learn the science of the Earth, our part and place in it, and the proper government of the Earth for the benefit of all humans today and tomorrow and the preservation and good care of the Earth. Elizabet Sahtouris, the famous evolutionary scientist proposes Earthism (see Idea 3995). Robert's The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living, Volume III - The Seasons of Life Chapter 6 - The Rich Age
"Age is a relative matter. If you continue to work
and absorb the beauty in the world about you, you will find that
age does not necessarily mean getting gold, at least not in the
ordinary sense.
~ Robert MullerI feel many things more intensely than ever before and life grows more fascinating. As long as one can admire and love then one is young forever." ~ Pablo Casals As long as we can do good, be of service, be in love with the miracle of life, then one is young forever.
