The final recommendation of the commission was that "the General Assembly should agree to hold a World Conference on Governance in 1998, with its decisions to be ratified and put into effect by 2000. That will allow more than two years for the preparatory process." Well I consider it as a historical scandal that this decision was not taken by the UN General Assembly and that the situation of a non-reform of the world governance system is the same and has even become worse by the year 2001. How long will governments wait to finally come to grips with this absolutely fundamental challenge that will influence the whole future evolution of this planet and of humanity? Such a conference would deal with the entire range of ideas for a better world from ideas for the individual, the family, the neighborhood, the village or town, the city, the state or province, the nation, the continent, up to ideas for the seas and oceans (71% of the planet), the atmosphere, the climate and the entire Earth. Such a conference could be a great eye opener and contribution to the new century and millennium.
