Between now and the year 2000, the United Nations, its world agencies and conferences, together with World Commissions of Eminent Persons and world thinkers should chart a new course for humanity and the Earth, a global Renaissance, an Era of Peace, a Planetary Deal. A World Conference should be held on the subject by the UN in 1999, on the eve of the 21st century and third millennium.

The rich age of the western countries has become too much a victim of tourism. We receive innumerable groups of elderly tourists at the University for Peace. But most of them want to see, to consume, to learn, to ask questions.
Seldom do we get an idea, a proposal, a dream, a vision from them.
Only one group, the Gray Panthers came to Costa Rica to hold a summit meeting out of which we got dozens of ideas and proposals for a better world, and pledges to take action.
