The United Nations should publish an annual report comparing each country's expenditures on arms and the military and the amount spent on efforts to preserve, restore and improve the environment and save the world.

The United Nations should declare a moratorium, a total prohibition of all new nuclear power plants and request the destruction of all existing ones.

Optimum adulthood ideally means: optimum physical life, optimum mental life, optimum moral life, optimum spiritual life.

At the current stage of evolution humanity is doing pretty well on the first two optima, mediocrally on the third, and appallingly on the fourth.

There is still a long way to go. The whole humanity must coalesce and attain all four optima in order to produce the maximum chance for our species, all species' and the Earth, to fulfill the next stage of evolution.

Nobel Prizes or new world prizes should be given to countries which have no atomic weapons and no nuclear energy plants, or which abolish them.

Adulthood, meaning "grownup", comes from ancient Germanic and the Latin to bear, to produce, to nourish (adolescence is the way of becoming a grownup, like a fully grown plant). Adulthood is the stage wanted and formed by nature to continue the chain of life, to give birth, to create a family, to nourish the newly born, to transmit experience and wisdom, to educate and to provide the maximum chances to the next generation.

We take adulthood for granted. Thus, the United Nations has convened world conferences on every stage of life, from childhood to old age, but not on adulthood. There exists no coherent, comprehensive science of adulthood. There should be one. It would be important. It is long and dangerously overdue.

The current admired so-called world economic system leaves in misery 2/3rds of humanity which it exploits; it does not provide full employment; it destroys the environment; it creates the most colossal waste and unnecessary "needs" in all evolution; it does not increase human happiness. And we call it an economic system!

A World Commission of Eminent Persons on a New World Economy should urgently be convened.

Placing myself at the age of 21 in the French underground during World War II, seeing incredible killings and risking myself to be killed, I asked my guardian angel what would be my fate, my future, if I had any.

This was the answer:

you will live beyond the age of 78,
you will be a doctor of law and an economist
you will win an essay contest allowing you to enter the United Nations
you will marry a beautiful Chilean wife and
have four children and nine grandchildren
the border with Germany in your hometown will be suppressed
you will be a UN servant for more than 38 years, reaching the high level of Assistant Secretary General
you will deliver innumerable speeches and attend conferences around the world for peace and a better world
you will write more than twenty books translated into several languages
at your retirement you will be the co-founder of the first University for Peace on this planet by the UN in demilitarized Costa Rica
You will become its Chancellor and give your wisdom to students from around the world
You will buy a sacred hill overlooking the University for Peace and write your ideas and dreams for a better world
After the demise of your wife Margarita you will marry Barbara, a wonderful Hungarian much younger wife, who loves dreams and ideas too and wanted to get the Nobel Peace Prize for you
You will receive dozens of awards and peace prizes during your life
You will write your Testament to the UN and two great classics, 5000 Ideas and Dreams for a Better World and The Miracle, Joy and Art of Living
You will be buried on your sacred hill. From your tomb, you will continue to work for world peace and human happiness
In heaven you will be a main adviser to God on peace and happiness
Your grandchildren will preserve your memory and continue your work,

That is all

Hearing this in 1944 I would have exclaimed: "This is utterly impossible, crazy, pure fiction and fantasy."

And yet, it all became true, a pure magic!

Well, dear young people, if this was possible, your future might be magical too, beyond your wildest dreams. I can only guarantee this to you: if your passion is right, the invisible forces of the universe will work for you in the most mysterious, extraordinary, unbelievable ways.

Stillness within one individual can affect society beyond measure.
